This past summer I was lucky enough to intern one-on-one with one of the most incredible business owners I have met. Catherine Hildner does it all at her business- from design to photography to marketing. Cat went from creating personal stationery goods on Etsy to owning her own business, Kitty Meow, where she has more freedom (and responsibilities) than ever before. At Grand Valley, the advertising and public relations program is set-up so that halfway through, you choose an emphasis and begin focusing solely on advertising or public relations. As an advertising emphasis myself, I was pretty unfamiliar to many of the programs my peers in PR were using in their classes, and vice versa. Thanks to my involvement in GrandPR and PRSSA, I’ve been able to work with a broader range of programs, but that’s not the case for everyone.
