Falling into PR
Fall is here and it’s in full swing. Leaves are changing, sweater weather is back, and I’m ready to light a pumpkin candle and watch Hocus Pocus. With all of that brings some fun into public relations. Forget back-to-school campaigns and summer excitement. PR pros everywhere are geared up for the season and I couldn’t be more excited!
It’s All About Connection
Whether it be working for a client or improving your own internal communications, connecting with your audience or employees shouldn’t be difficult this time of year. It’s the perfect opportunity to create those bonds within your staff. Consider (if you’re in office) bringing in apple cider and donuts to show your appreciation. Maybe a socially distanced pumpkin carving or painting session. Autumn is the perfect time to slow down and focus on relationships within your community!
Pumpkins and donuts don’t have to be reserved for only coworkers and business partners. Brands are using this time to connect with their customers and having fun with it! Bath and Body Works did this through Instagram stories and posts. They asked customers to share their favorite fall products (Pumpkin Cupcake is their best scent. Trust me). This gets customers involved within the company AND gets them excited for the season.
Not only big-name brands can get the public involved in the season. Canvas Townhomes, a housing complex near GVSU, holds random giveaways for their residents. By posting/sharing the complex’s page and spreading the word to friends, Canvas gains resident support for their effort to make the cooler weather a little more cozy.
I’m ready for scary movies and scrolling through an Instagram feed full of fall content. This time of year gives us all time to gear up for the road ahead. Whether it be midterms coming up or a big presentation at work, there’s nothing that a pumpkin donut and hot cider can’t fix.
