Who to Follow: The Best Social Media Accounts to Stay Up to Date with PR

Want to get connected to the public relations industry through social media and elevate your PR literacy? Here are 10 PR-related organizations and accounts to follow for the latest and greatest in PR news, events, and research. 

Metro public relations

A female-owned and operated Hollywood ‘culture first’ PR firm giving updates on the latest happenings in pop culture and the media coverage of them. A great way to get fun pop culture news with a PR spin. 

PRSA National

I’m sure as a PR professional you already know the Public Relations Society of America, but are you following them on their socials? PRSA’s social media accounts are great resources for PR professionals at all different levels of their careers. They post information about the latest webinars, certification programs, and conferences. 

PRSA New Pros

If you’re a new professional getting your bearings, PRSA New Pros is a great place to get information. Their content is geared specifically for newbies navigating the PR world including mentorship, the university to entry-level job transition, and virtual events. 

Local PRSA chapter

If you’re the type of person that likes to get involved with organizations in person, your local PRSA chapter is who to follow. Your local chapter is a great place to learn from and engage with, they’ll give you the ins and outs of local PR-related events, speakers, and more. Getting involved locally and having PR literacy in your area will give you an edge others may not have. 

PRSSA  

PRSSA, PRSA but for students. Keeping up with the Public Relations Student Society of America is a great place to start as a student. They have Twitter chats for active dialogues within the student PR community, blog post reminders, and even fashion advice!

PRSA Jobcenter

You thought I was done with PRSA? Think again! In all seriousness, PRSA Jobcenter is a must-follow. These social media accounts are dedicated to posting PR job positions from all over the country, if you’re job searching this account is for you. 

PR Newswire

A part of Cision, PR Newswire is a great resource for staying up to date on industry news. On Twitter, they round up the best press releases and stories of the week for their followers. They also post content that gives tips on press release writing and content. 

PR News

PR News is exactly what it sounds like. Follow them for a constant flow of information from their blog about everything PR. Some of their recent topics highlight how Waffle House is a prime example of crisis management, what “off the record” actually means, and things you won’t learn in the classroom. 

PR Week

Provides content that gives information about PR panels, conferences, new PRWeek podcasts, and blogs. PR Week is the leading publication created for PR and communication professionals, so be sure to check them out. 

Institute for Public Relations

Our last contender, the Insitute for Public Relations is a nonprofit organization that dedicates its efforts to research that matters in and for public relations. They post studies and research findings that are essential for the PR practitioners that need to keep up with our face-paced society.
