What I'm Most Excited About For GrandPR

Truth be told, I’m still coming down from the high that was GrandPR 2016-2017. Being my first year in GrandPR, I had no idea how much work, time, and fun would fill my days as an account associate. My team worked like a well-oiled communications machine solving PR problems for nonprofits, small businesses, and organized events.

However, my days as an account associate are over now, and I’m ready to make my transition into the leadership position of Executive Director. I’m filled to the brim with excitement, so much in fact, that I just HAD to blog about it. Without further ado, here are the three things I’m most excited about for GrandPR:

1. New Teammates!

Each semester, GrandPR “hires” on new staff members to accommodate for graduated members and the varying volume of client work. Being a boisterous social butterfly, it’s only natural that I’m pumped to get to know my new fellow teammates! GrandPR provides students with the opportunity to learn and grow with peers in a professional setting. It also allows members to bond with fellow students of the School of Communications (SOC), bond with students outside of the SOC, and grow together as a family.

2. Personal Growth

Last year in GrandPR I got my feet wet in the PR world, but now I’m ready to soak in the experience and grow as a professional. My first year was spent learning how to rely on teammates and establishing effective communication. Most of my personal growth last year stemmed from building relationships with clients; words can’t explain how jived I am to begin working with clients again. Each new client brings new problems, new problems that need new solutions, and it is part of my job to provide these solutions. The more work I do, and with each goal I complete, I’m growing and fine-tuning my PR prowess.

3. Opportunity to Lead

As I previously mentioned, I’m transitioning into a leadership position this upcoming year. As the right-hand-man to the CEO, I share the responsibility of leading my peers in a positive direction and ensuring client needs are met.  It’s imperative that I don’t let my opportunity go to waste. My brain is stocked full of ideas on how to improve GrandPR, and I’m beyond stoked to be given the opportunity to execute them.

As I’m wrapping this blog up, I’m starting to feel the PR buzz swarm all over me again. Pretty sure I’m addicted to PR, but it’s fine... let the semester begin!

About Trevor

Trevor Bryan is embarking on his second year at Grand Valley, and he’s loved every minute of it. Trevor is an Advertising and Public Relations major with a Public Relations emphasis, and he’s also pursuing a Sociology minor. From PRSSA to GrandPR, the school has provided ample opportunity to explore his major. This year, Trevor’s efforts will be focused on serving PRSSA’s E-Board as the VP of Chapter Development and GrandPR as the Executive Director. When Trevor isn’t tweeting up a storm or tearing up the PRSSA podcast, PR Hangover, he loves to decompress with friends and laugh the night away.
