5 Tips to Finding an Internship
Haven’t locked down that internship for the fall? Have no fear! Here are five easy tips to finding an internship!
Make your resume stand out
Employers receive hundreds of resumes during recruiting season. You do not want your resume to get lost in the crowed. So, create a savvy resume to catch the employer’s eye without being in front of them.
Get involved
Having a 4.0 is great, but you want to have things to put on your resume to prove you can do more than just get an A on a test. Employers want to see that you put yourself out there, so join clubs and organizations. This will give you knowledge and experience outside of the classroom.
Weigh your options
Do not jump on the first opportunity. You want to get the most out of your experience. Finding an internship is stressful, and you might want to accept the first one that comes your way, but be patient, the right one will come around.
Apply on time
Put your applications out there early, you want to be ahead of the game. It will look like you are able to meet deadlines and that you are aware of the importance of it.
Kill the interview
First impressions are key, so you really have to “knock their socks off” at the interview. You need to present yourself in a professional but approachable manner. Research the company so you look not only interested, but also well prepared. Also, ask questions! Future employers do not expect you to know everything, and what better way to engage and start a conversation than a question!
I know that trying to get an internship can be stressful and scary, but relax! Everything will come together if you work hard and have patience.
