Hey there, APR major. It’s Valentine’s Day and we’re talking about you. All good things, of course. Our attraction to you is something fierce, and well, we wrote you this love letter during the last GV PRSSA meeting:
We love how advertising and public relations is such a broad field that allows us to learn many different communication and technological skills. It is applicable in nearly every industry, allowing us to work with companies that resonate with our personalities.
We love the APR program for the classes you offer. Specifically, CAP 105, CAP 210, and CAP 220. We appreciate CAP 105, Technology in Public Relations, for teaching us basic skills in an array of technology professionals use in the field, including the Adobe Creative Suite and Google Analytics. CAP 210 and 220, Fundamentals of Advertising and Fundamentals of Public Relations, are dear to our hearts because they are likely our first experiences with local clients. Through these classes, we learn the process of building campaigns, presentation skills, and how to work effectively in a group setting.
As much as we love the class material, we love the professors even more. We are blessed with the best professors who have first-hand experience in the field and connect us with professionals because they taught us necessary skills to succeed in the “real-world.” The dedication and care they express while teaching is more contagious than the flu. They empower us to be passionate, outgoing, and determined. We are hungry, organized self-starters who respect and welcome each other’s creative ideas.
APR, we thank you for the vast opportunities you offer. From involvements in many different student organizations to connections for jobs and internships, and all of the friendships and experiences made in-between.
Most importantly, we thank you for the opportunity for us to challenge ourselves; providing us with the knowledge and skillset to put ourselves out there and conquer our aspirations.
With love and gratitude,
GVSU APR Students
