Hello my PRock Stars, my name is Teagan Epley and I am the current VP of Member Services! Catch me at the welcome desk before every PRSSA meeting to check you in and make you feel right at home. Not sure if PRSSA is for you? Everything is worth a shot! I moved here from Chicago and enrolled as Undecided during my freshman year. I attended my first PRSSA meeting to earn extra credit for a course and fell in love with everyone’s passion for communication. Since then, I’ve been an involved Advertising and Public Relations major, accepting leadership roles in both PRSSA and our student-run PR firm, GrandPR. To top it off, I’ve also completed a General Business minor and am a part of the National Student Advertising Competition team for 2020. Your girl likes to stay busy!
Throughout the school year, you can find me at the Alumni House and the Downtown Career Center completing two internships for the AD/PR program. As the Marketing and Communications Intern at the Career Center, I am able to assist with a variety of marketing strategies working over multiple communications channels to promote the amazing work our University does to provide us with career opportunities during and after college. When I’m not there, you can find me at the Alumni House working as the Social Media and Web Assistant for Alumni Relations. In my role, I am working to redesign our Alumni Association website and schedule out social media posts for our alumni to stay updated and involved in University activities.
Most of all, I have a passion for Grand Valley and all of the beautiful people that make it such a dynamic, supportive environment. My hope is to bring that same feeling of support to every PRSSA meeting and make our members feel encouraged to pursue their passions. I am beyond excited to see the new faces we bring to our chapter this year and reconnect with old ones that will hopefully take the next step and be future leaders of PRSSA.
Ok, but I promise my life isn’t just school and work. Fun fact, I love being outside and live to travel. The idea of seeing new things and experiencing new places one day is what gets me through every rainy day or stressful assignment. Following graduation, I hope to move out West to Colorado and find a job in the Denver or Colorado Springs area so I can hike and live in the beautiful mountain scenery. For now, I enjoy exploring downtown Grand Rapids in the summer months by visiting rooftop bars and beer gardens, as well as skating at Rosa Parks Circle and getting hot chocolate at MadCap in the winter. Concerts at the VanAndel are always great no matter the season. Some of my favorites have been The Lumineers, Chris Young, and the Jonas Brothers! PRSSA concert retreat, anyone? Hit me up at the next meeting!
