Hi, everyone! My name is Courtney Fogle and I’m the Podcast Director for PR Hangover this year. I publish biweekly podcasts featuring PR professionals in the area. I started this position in May and I’d love it if you’d listen to the episodes I’ve done so far! You can find the episodes here. Being able to speak with a variety of professionals has already been so much fun. I’ve learned a lot from each individual and their specialties in PR, and I can’t wait to see what the remainder of the year holds for me.
The Laker Effect
I got involved with PRSSA, GrandPR, and the Alumni Committee with a little push from Adrienne Wallace. Before I transferred to GVSU in the fall of 2017, I was unhappy at my previous college and unsure where to go next. I met with Adrienne before applying and she ensured me that everything would be just fine. She helped me get my confidence and charisma back, and made sure that I felt like I belonged in the APR program here. PRSSA and GrandPR have helped me make so many valuable connections with my peers, professors, and professionals in the area. I’m very thankful for that.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been captivated by the entertainment industry. Listening to music, watching award shows, and learning about what goes on behind the scenes were how I spent most of my time. My mom would wonder how I so easily understood promotion techniques, celebrity relationships, gossip, and how it all contributed to the reputation of the person in the spotlight.
I took a serious interest in singing, songwriting, and producing when I was in high school. I even went as far as creating my own brand. I’ve worked with other local artists, producers, and videographers, but I am more interested in reputation management, brand development, and social media. I do a lot of this work in my free time. My hope is to work in the entertainment industry as a publicist for a record company, or have my own PR firm that works closely with various talent management companies and recording studios.
- I tore my knee when I was 12 from skipping! I’ve had a total of six knee surgeries and have two cadaver tissues. My knee is in perfect condition and I’m able to fully function again. (Be an organ donor! You never know whose life needs saving!)
- I enjoy rescuing animals. I keep treats in my car just in case I come across a stray and need to lure them to safety! Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t go to veterinary school, but then I remember how much I hate blood and needles.
- I’m a mom! A cat mom, at least. His name is Oliver and he’s very special. He likes to play with water, watch me do my makeup, and wake me up in the morning when I keep pressing snooze on my alarm.
- My family and I are super close. I have a seven year old sister and two cousins that are more like my brother and sister. We laugh 99% of the time we’re together and enjoy talking in British accents when we go out to eat.
Courtney Fogle is a junior studying Advertising and Public Relations. She is currently the Podcast Director for PRSSA and an account associate at GrandPR. Courtney is a singer-songwriter, with hopes to combine her love of music and PR so that she can work in the music industry managing artists and their brands. In her free time, you can find her listening to music or taking pictures of her cat, Oliver.
